YOUTH MENTORING PROGRAM

The Youth Mentoring Program has been funded by the Dept of Health to establish and maintain the provision of activities for Cunnamulla Youth

that are "at risk" of suffering depression, self harm, substance misuse, violence and/or family neglect.

YOUTH MENTORING PROGRAM

Age Group

five years to 23 years.

Programs include

• Camping trips
• Youth mentoring programs involved within the camping trips.
• Youth mentoring trip, Dubbo Croc Fest, and trip to the NRL Grand Final
• Workshops in Music- learning to play the guitar and keyboard
• Workshops in wood work and craft
  
• Vibe 3 on 3 trip to Connamble
• Maintain Sporting programs for youth.
  

New Story

over the first week of the September School Holidays we left Cunnamulla to journey to Dubbo NSW for Croc Fest then onto Sydney for the NRL Grandfinal.

The Croc Fest provided a great opportunity for the young people on the trip, to participate in a range of electives fromhealth, education, sports and future job opportunities. The young people were very interested in the display of job and educational options for them on leaving school, with them all coming away with bags of information. The evening were great as we watched schools present their dance routines, The best of course not being bias was our own team from Cunnamulla.

We then journeyed on to Sydney, for the NRL Grand final. We had a very busy program for the young people who were hosted by the Urban Life Church, we camped on their hall floor for the three days.

The youth mentoring program included:

• Swimming in the ocean (beach time)
• A visit to the Aquarim and Wildlife Centre
• Fairy ride under the Sydney Harbour and via the Opera House.
• Lunch at McDonalds
• Playing with the eels at the Botanic Garden and feeding the birds
• Movie night
• Cunnamulla V's Sydney Basketball match
• NRL Grand Final
